Bright Horizons Care Advantage is a web-based resource to help you find parenting resources and select pre-screened caregivers for children, adults — and even pets. You select the right caregiver for you.
Whether you need everyday or occasional care, Bright Horizons Care Advantage provides a comprehensive childcare, pet care, and eldercare solution to complement UC's work/life benefits and employee assistance resources:

Components of your Bright Horizons Additional Family Supports That Require Registration:
Employees who are eligible for Bright Horizons are also eligible for the Sittercity and Years Ahead family support programs, which allow users to access listings for caretakers, petsitters, and eldercare providers via registration at the UC Bright Horizons registration website. Please note: employee ID numbers should be nine (9) digits. Please use your employee ID number on your earnings statement or add a zero (0) to the front of the eight (8) digit number on your campus card.
Sittercity benefits include resource databases to help you find:
- Babysitters: after-school, last minute, school holidays, extended work hours
- Nannies: full and part time
- Pet caregivers: dog walkers and pet sitters
- Caregivers who can assist with special needs, companion care, homework help, and housekeeping
Sittercity is America’s largest website for connecting families with quality local in-home caregivers with nearly 2 million caregivers nationwide. Your Sittercity benefit gives you online access to local caregivers with profiles that include background checks, references, parent reviews, pictures, and more.
Years Ahead benefits include :
- One on one elder care planning and referrals with a live consultant
- Specialized facilities including memory and hospice care and independent and assisted living communities

Pilot Program Overview:
Effective 11/1/2019, Ladder-Rank Faculty and Teaching Professors (LPSOE/LSOEs) at UC San Diego are eligible for a pilot back-up care program through Bright Horizons, which provides faculty with up to 10 days of back-up care benefits for use for dependents young and old. Employer-subsidized co-pays are set at only $15 per child (or $25 per family), per day, for center-based care, and $6 per hour for in-home care, with a 4 hour minimum requirement. Same day care is available with 2 hours minimum notice.

Please note: Enrollment and completion of necessary forms for first-time daycare center use may be time-intensive and is advised to have completed well before the first desired date of care. If this paperwork has not been completed in advance, in some cases, in home care may be the best option to reserve on your first day of use.

Projected Eligibility List Updates:
Program eligibility lists are updated quarterly, but individual enrollment eligibility can be adjusted on a case by case basis. Faculty in eligible series who experience technical difficulties are invited to contact Gabriel Lopez, Director of Policy and Family Programs, at gal037@ucsd.edu .
