What is UC OATS?

The University of California Outside Activity Tracking System (UC OATS) is an easy-to-use, web-based application through which university faculty members can report outside activities and income, in accordance with UCOP conflict of commitment policies. It employs a simple, yet interactive format that facilitates the submission and collection of information about outside professional activities, and helps faculty understand the related policies.

  • Is a totally green, paperless system
  • Has built in tips and tutorials
  • Assesses and advises appointees of conflict of commitment levels
  • Provides all routing streams, and review levels in one convenient portal
  • Allows faculty members to document activities with student participation
  • Is accessible from remote
  • Automates standard notifications

Launch Timeline

UC OATS was made live for UC San Diego users on September 3, 2019, in tandem with UC Irvine on the UC OATS Milestones Implementation Timeline, with training materials such as user guides and tutorial videos available 24 hours a day.  This system will be deployed on this campus for reporting both APM 025 and APM 671 activities, starting with those for FY 2018-2019 Year.  This is a mandatory, campus-wide implementation.
