UC San Diego Unit 18 Faculty are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the Regents of the University of California and the University Council, American Federation of Teachers (UC-AFT).
Please note any layoff or reduction in time as it related to an academic appointee under the UC-AFT labor agreement must adhere to the requirement of Article 17 of the agreement.
In October 2019, the University and the United Auto Workers have reached a tentative agreement on a new three-year contract for UC’s academic researchers. This contract was ratified by the UAW membership on November 8, 2019. This is a multi-year agreement, effective from December 9, 2022 through September 30, 2027.
Series affected by this ratification are the Specialist series, Project Scientist series, and Researcher series.
